After recently winning the Breakthrough Act award at the Midlands Comedy Awards, Lucy Thompson is now enjoying more success with her first solo show ‘Lady’ being shortlisted for the Best Debut Show at last month’s Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival - one of the biggest comedy festivals in Europe with about 800
shows. Lucy made her first ever appearance on stage just two years ago, and she has since been nominated for a number of awards for her stand-up comedy.

But for her first ever solo show, she decided to take the risk with a character-based show, playing the boss of an aspiring women’s magazine, as well as the various larger- than-life characters who fill its pages.

Lucy, 32, said: “I feel flabbergasted. I took a gamble with this show, as it wasn’t the traditional stand up which I do.

“It was a character show and a labour of love that I had the idea for years ago. On this occasion my gamble paid off!”

Lucy was born and raised in Rugby and has also lived abroad, before moving to Leicester.

As well as her award at the 2015 Midlands Comedy Awards, she was also nominated for the Best Online Award at the same event - and was named runner-up for the Best New Act Award in 2014.

She was also been nominated for the Breaking Talent Award at the Birmingham Comedy Festival 2015 and was a semi-finalist at the Leicester Square Theatre Act of the Year.
