SHIPWAYS property experts is urging landowners to take advantage of the Government’s 2012 National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) which aims to significantly boost the supply of
local housing through greater localisation of planning decisions.
According to land manager Bryan O’Mahoney, the new framework, which applies to all new and live development projects, should make planning decisions more fluid which will boost demand for local development land.
“We at Shipways welcome the new Planning Policy Framework which encourages and enables local authorities and the communities they serve to deliver sustainable and much-needed residential development,” said Bryan.
“It also prompts a greater degree of forward planning to make sure local house building is sustainable, delivers high quality homes and boosts the local economy.
“With this in mind, there is likely to be greater opportunity for house builders and therefore more demand for suitable development sites.”
Bryan added: “We are urging those who wish to sell their land to take advantage of this.
“Planning applications will now be considered under the guidelines of the new framework and should be more easily processed under the Government’s new local agenda.”
