A Rugby man has been charged with the murder of 34-year-old Shana Tanesia Cover.

Owen Anthony Williams, 50, of Grizedale, Rugby, was charged yesterday evening and will appear at Leamington Magistrates Court today.

Shana’s body was discovered in her flat in Morton Gardens, Rugby, on Thursday last week after concern was raised about her welfare.

The incident has shocked the neighbourhood.

Jacquie Durber, of Morton Gardens, said: “The police have been here since last Thursday and it has been a hive of activity.

“It is very quiet around here so it’s really shocking. This is the kind of thing you expect to happen in a big city, not in a place like this.”

Charles Sheffield, also of Morton Gardens, said: “It’s a scary thing to happen in this area.

“It’s very sad and it has surprised a lot of people around here.

“There has been a lot of activity, the police cars, vans and forensic teams have been in and out all week.”

Detective Chief Inspector James Essex, who is leading the investigation, said:“The last reported sighting of Shana was on Thursday August 14 and she was found dead a week later.

“The thoughts of the whole investigation team are with the friends and family of Shana at this time.”
