TWO children have escaped injury during a serious car crash thanks to their car safety seats.

West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to reports of a two car crash on the A428 between Bretford and Church Lawford at around 11.45am on Monday.

Two ambulances and a paramedic officer attended the crash scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find two cars that had been in a serious collision. Both cars had suffered substantial damage.”

A man, a woman and two young children were travelling in one car. The man, believed to be in his 30s, suffered suspected back injuries and was treated at the scene. He was taken by ambulance to University Hospital in Coventry for further treatment.

The woman, also believed to be in her 30s, was checked over at the scene by ambulance crews but did not need hospital treatment.

The ambulance spokesman said: “Fortunately, two young children who were travelling in the rear of the car were safely secured in child safety seats so despite the impact of the crash, they were uninjured.
