RUGBY estate agent Shipways is advising anyone looking to sell their home to market it now and take advantage of the current buoyant market.

Since the start of this year, Shipways has recorded greater numbers of buyers and sellers resulting in 9 per cent more properties to sell in June 2011 and 38 per cent more mortgages arranged than in June 2010.

The upturn has been especially prevalent in the past three months of this year during which time the branch has experienced a greater number of requests for property valuations, an increasing number of instructions from vendors to sell their homes and a jump in sales of over 10 per cent. Notably, Shipways’s mortgage services have been in high demand, jumping by almost a quarter in the first three months of the year and a further 30 per cent from April to June.

“The trends we are seeing in 2011 are very positive, especially in mortgage services where activity has soared since the start of the year,” said Pauline Childs, branch manager for Shipways.

“We now have more properties available, more sales going through and with the increased level of mortgage activity at the current time this trend is likely to continue in the foreseeable future.”

Over the second quarter of the year, Shipways has seen increases in the sale of both new and second hand homes.

Sales of new homes increased by almost 20 per cent in quarter one compared to the same period last year and from April to June, Shipways saw these sales increase to almost 50 per cent more than last year.

Pauline added: “With a greater range of mortgage products available there is now more opportunity for buyers to move home and our recent activity would certainly indicate that this is the case.”
