Mass Newbold brawl with machetes leaves three men hospitalised

A MASS brawl among ten men in Newbold armed with machetes and other weapons left three people hospitalised and one needing plastic surgery.

Police arrested four men following the fight near Kirby Court in High Street, Newbold, in the early hours of Sunday morning. Several people involved were injured, with one being admitted to University Hospital, Coventry, where he underwent plastic surgery to an injury below his ear. Some others involved received cuts and bruises.

Police were called to the confrontation at 12.15am on Sunday morning. On arrival they found males leaving the scene, and three people with injuries.

The four males arrested, aged 19, 23 and 27, 34 years, have all been questioned in connection with allegations of wounding with intent and violent disorder. They have all been bailed pending further police investigations.

Detective Sergeant Neal Candelent, who is leading the investigation the disorder, described the fight as an isolated incident, and said he would like to hear form anyone who had witnessed the fight or who had any information that may assist the police.
