A massive fire destroyed over 3,000 pallets at Magna Park yesterday Sunday, July 12.

A fire appliance from Lutterworth and two from Hinckley raced to fight the huge blaze at the sprawling warehouse park off the M1 just before 11am.

The 12 firefighters fought the inferno, covering an area 50 metres by 30 metres, after multiple eye-witnesses called 999 to raise the alarm.

They sounded the alert after spotting enormous plumes of thick black smoke spiralling hundreds of feet up into the sky.

The pillars of smoke erupting from the vast logistics centre could be seen for miles around on a hot clear day.

Fire crews deploying breathing apparatus kits and two main jets battled the blaze for over seven hours.

The cause of the blaze has still not been established, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said today.
