Rugby’s first free primary school was officially opened by the borough’s Mayor and MP on Wednesday.

Rugby Free Primary School, on Bailey Road, Central Park, invited pupils, parents and special guests to the event.

Headteacher Susan Milewski said she felt both proud and privileged as the ribbon was cut and the children sang their school song.

Yongsters then released balloons with their aspirations on to reflect the school’s vision ‘aspire to be the best imagined’.

After the launch, the children presented their Christmas production.

The school took on its first cohort of pupils in September.
