Music from the films and shows was the theme for the night, which raised over £2,500 for the mayor’s charities.

The audience were greeted by live music in the foyer of the hall and characters from Five Star Theatre’s upcoming production of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ before taking the famous yellow brick road to a glitzy hall.

The main stage featured upbeat local band Last Lesson, stunning performances from several young singers supported by Rugby Area Talent Trust (RATT) and dramatic potted versions of Les Miserables and The Wizard of Oz produced by Rugby’s Five Star Theatre.

A raffle and auction added to the giving on the night, with lots including a rugby ball signed by the English World Cup winning squad of 2003.

“It was a fantastically impressive, fun and successful show,” said Cllr Bragg.

“I’m so pleased and proud of everyone involved. It’s amazing to think that nearly 100 performers, technical crew and other volunteers came together to make all this happen.

“We have a great volunteer spirit and lots of talent in Rugby.”

David Head, one of the event organisers and a founder trustee of RATT, said: “It was a truly entertaining show.”
