Meet Dasher, Dancer, Prancer Vixen and... Big Dave

A surreal sight met the eyes when more than 100 people dressed as Father Christmas lined up to take part in the Myton Hospices’ first ever Santa dash on Sunday.

The race was originally planned to be held at Warwick Racecourse on November 28 but was postponed because of snow.

With temperatures now safely a few degrees above freezing, the race was held in the grounds of Warwickshire Exhibition Centre on the Fosse Way and was started by Warwick mayor Cllr Michael Kinson.

Entrants could walk or run the 6km course to raise money for the charity, which provides care for people with life-limiting illnesses.

There was also a children’s 100m dash which was won by 13-year-old Michael Ripley, who received his prize from Cllr Kinson.

Events manager Charlotte Ingram thanked everyone who took part. She said: “We had a fantastic morning and are grateful that so many people were able to make the new date and raise money for us.

“It was a great atmosphere and people really got into the festive spirit. Good luck to those who couldn’t make the new date but are still going to do it in their own time.”
