Men armed with axe in pub attack

TWO men who were armed forced their way into the Blacksmiths Arms in Ryton on Dunsmore in the early hours of Sunday in an unsuccessful attempt to steal cash.

At about 00.35hrs one male, wearing a balaclava and carrying a wooden handled axe, entered the premises in High Street followed closely by an Asian male who was carrying a large silver cleaver knife.

They were confronted by two males in the pub, one of whom suffered a slight cut to his arm and made off on foot.

Nothing was stolen and the injured man did not require hospital treatment.

Detectives investigating the incident would like to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity or cars near to the pub or has any information which would help them with their enquiries.
