Men released from bail after woman’s death

Two Leamington men arrested following the death of 44-year old Lillington woman have been released from police bail with no further action to be taken against them.

The men, aged 50-years and 63-years, had both been arrested on suspicion of assault following the death of 44-year-old Luisa Mendes at an address in Briar Close in October 2012.

Ms Mendes’s family have been informed of the decision, which was taken by the West Midlands Crown Prosecution Service following discussions with Warwickshire Police involving further medical information about her death.

The matter has now been passed to the Coroner.

A separate independent investigation being conducted by the Independent Police Complaints Commission into the contact between Warwickshire Police and Ms Mendes prior to her death, is ongoing.
