Myton Hospice fete raises £17,000

Alpacas and ponies were among the more unusual exhibits at this year’s Myton Hospice summer fete, which raised almost £17,000 for the Warwick-based charity.

As the sunshine beat down on the garden of the Warwick hospice in Myton Lane, visitors played traditional fete games - including throwing things at victims in the stocks, browsed stalls and tucked into food, Pimms and soft drinks, while there were also plenty of children’s activities and the chance to ride a pony. An auction run by Rob Ripley from John Taylor Funeral Directors raised £3,440 for Myton.

Some 129 volunteers helped to run the event. The charity’s events manager Sarah Dolby said: “A huge thank you to everyone who came along, all our amazing volunteers, our sponsors and everyone who donated items. We could not have done it without you.”
