RAILWAY noise in Hillmorton has significantly reduced in recent weeks, following maintenance work carried out by Network Rail.

Rugby MP Mark Pawsey has welcomed the news after he was contacted last year by a group of concerned Hillmorton residents.

A meeting was subsequently organising between residents, Rugby Borough Council and Network Rail to discuss the problem.

Mr Pawsey said: “After making enquiries with Network Rail, and discussing the problem with local residents, it became clear that there were two separate noise issues. The first is caused by approaching trains and the second occurred when trains passed over a specific section of the track.

“The council is presently carrying out a noise survey in the area to investigate the first noise issue and this work is ongoing. I am advised by my constituents that the second noise issue has significantly decreased following the carrying out of scheduled maintenance work by Network Rail at the specific area of the track which was causing the problems. This is great news for all concerned.

“The result of this maintenance work is very welcome to my constituents and I am delighted to have been able to help them.”
