Three new Neighbourhood Watch groups have been set up in Projects Drive, Izod Road and Derwent Close in Rugby during the last two weeks.

Successful roadshows were held despite the cold weather and snow with residents of all ages turning up to show an interest.

Another Neighbourhood Watch group has also been created in the village of Flecknoe.

A launch event was arranged by the Rugby Rural South SNT with the support of Rugby Borough NHW and Warwickshire County Council Community Safety Team.

Around 30 people turned up at Flecknoe Village Hall to sign up to Rugby Borough NHW.

Smartwater was given to all those who singed up, meaning a significant number of properties in the village are now covered.

The events were jointly arranged, supported and attended by Rugby’s Safer Neighbourhood Policing Teams and Warwickshire County Council’s Community Safety Team.

A spokesman for Rugby Borough NHW said: “Although latest figures report an overall reduction in the number of crimes being committed in Rugby borough this does not mean that we should become complacent. Neighbourhood Watch is not about being nosey. It’s about being a good neighbour, taking pride in the area you live, improving your local community and supporting your local policing teams.
