New school roles for Adrian and Jaymee

A new head boy and head girl have been appointed at Avon Valley School and Performing Arts College in Rugby.

Year 11 students Adrian Kaczmarek and Jaymee Russell took up their roles this week.

They will fulfil their roles until they leave in July 2017.

In addition a further 24 students have been appointed to act as senior prefects within their houses, these roles include house captains, sports captains and performing arts captains.

In order to apply for a student leadership position, students were required to submit a letter of application and undergo an interview with their house’s achievement leader and the school’s headteacher. In total over 60 students put themselves forward to be considered for a position.

The head boy, head girl and senior house prefects represent the school’s student community and serve as ambassadors at school events they are also positive role models for the younger students. The students said they were looking forward to starting their roles.

Alison Davies, headteacher, said: “It was lovely to interview each student and to hear their views and opinions. I was very impressed with the preparation, maturity and conduct of the all the students involved.

“Jaymee and Adrian really stood out. They are both wonderful students who are hardworking, committed and respected by students and staff alike.

“They are fantastic role models and I am looking forward to working with them throughout the year.”
