New youth club open in Warwick

YOUNG people on a Warwick estate are feeling the benefits of a weekly youth club after concerns were raised that there were not enough activites in the area for them.

Warwick Extended Services Cluster held consultations with parents of children attending Woodloes School, local agencies and councillors, and it was highlighted that there was a lack of provision for young people, and more needed to be done to promote community spirit.

A year-round weekly youth club was then commissioned at The Gap Community Centre in Oakwood Grove for children in years five and six of primary school.

Cllr Moira-Ann Grainger (Con, Warwick North), said: “The opening of the youth club is the result of all partners working together and listening to both our residents and young people aspirations.”

The club has a programme of free activities designed by the children including sports, music, performing arts and crafts and takes place every Friday evening from 6pm to 7.30pm.
