A NIGHT of glitz and glamour has helped raise £6,250 for two cancer charities.

Ascot came to Dunchurch for the recent Rugby Cancer Summer Ball.

The proceeds of the event, held at Bilton Grange School, will be split between Cancer Research UK and the new Cancer Centre at Walsgrave’s University Hospital.

The money raised is in addition to the £20,000 already raised at the ball in March.

Organisers would like to thank everybody who supported the ball.

Sue Medcalfe is Cancer Research UK’s Area Volunteer Manager for Coventry & Warwickshire.

She said: “Thanks to this support we can fund 4,500 scientists who research into the cures and treatments for Cancer.

“We also offer the service of Information Nurses who advise and help patients and their families with any aspect of the disease.”
