Popular cafe Rocco’s Love Coffee has left Rugby library.
The familiar set-up in the foyer was due to change as part of the work being done ahead of the opening of World Rugby’s Hall of Fame and that would have included a new-look cafe.
But that will go ahead with a new name after Rocco’s closed on Sunday.
The borough council said it would now look for another operator.
There has been widespread speculation on social media that the council was looking for one of the big national chains to take over and that Rocco’s had been forced out but a borough council spokesman said: “We had hoped that the current café operator would continue, but he has decided that now is the time to move on.
“We wish him all the best for the future.”
And the spokesman added that with Rocco’s only finishing on Sunday nothing had been sorted about a new operator.
Jeremy Harper, the man behind Rocco’s, told the Advertiser he would explain more about the situation in due course.
