A man was taken to hospital following an accident on the Western Relief Road junction in Rugby last night (Tuesday).

Emergency services were called to the junction of the relief road and Lawford Road just after 6pm last night where two vehicles had been in collision.

Both cars had damage to the front of the vehicle.

Two fire engines from Rugby Fire Station attended, along with Warwickshire Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service.

One person was ‘medically trapped’ and had to be rescued by firefighters using specialist cutting equipment.

A spokesman for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said that one man with a head injury was taken to University Hospital in Coventry, while a second man was discharged on the scene.
