WRESTLERS are back to ‘lay the smackdown’ in Rugby.

The Wrestling Association of Rugby (WAR) are back with their event of 2012 - Last Man Standing.

This one-night-only event on Saturday, February 11 will be a night of firsts for the Rugby wrestling promotion, topped off with an extreme Last Man Standing match. This special contest, never before attempted at WAR, was the idea of new champion, Blue Thunder.

The masked fan favourite said: “This match will be very intense and it will take a lot out of me and my opponent. I really hope I have all my fans there to give me the strength to retain the belt.”

The rules of the match are simple. The winner must dominate their opponent to the point that they stay down for a full 10 count, with no pinfalls and no submission.

Asked about an opponent, Thunder said: “I have put forward an open challenge to every competitor in the country and I look forward to what will definitely be the match of my career.”

With more than six matches on the night featuring all the hard hitting, high-octane action that fans have come to expect from WAR over the past ten years, this is one fans do not want to miss.

There will be many other wrestlers appearing on the night such as WAR favourites Xander Cooper, Falcon, the Ocean Brothers and ‘B52’ Lance Corporal. The show will be held at Lawrence Sheriff School in Clifton Road, Rugby. Tickets for the event are on sale now and can be reserved by calling (01788) 561735 or by emailing Entrance is £6 for adults, £5 for under 15s and a family of two adults and two children is £18. Doors open at 6.30pm with the show starting at 7pm.
