Operation X focuses on Leamington’s priority policing areas

Police and council safety officers have set up teams to focus their efforts in the parts of Leamington where their work is most needed.

As part of Warwickshire Police’s ongoing Operation X a team has been set up to cover the town centre, old town and Sydenham industrial estate which have been identified by the force as a priority policing area.

Officers from Leamington’s Safer Neighbourhood Teams, the town’s priorty policing area team and staff from South Warwickshire Community Safety Partnership are working together to better protect those living and working within these communities.

Sergeant Alan Edwards who heads up Leamington’s PPA team said, “We have always enjoyed a close working relationship with Warwick District Council.

“By working together on Operation X we are able to provide the best possible protection to those communities within the Priority Policing Area.”

Councillor Norman Vincett (Con, Kenilworth St John’s), who is responsible for policy on housing, said: “Warwick District Council welcomes the latest set of figures which show that crime in Leamington’s priority policing area is down by 21 per cent.

“Our housing team has already been involved in some successful raids under Operation X where it’s believed criminal activity may be taking place.“
