Flabbergasted at cost of ball tickets

Whilst searching the internet for community events in Warwick, I came across the ‘Charity Ball’ being organised by the mayor of Warwick. Now I appreciate that this event will raise a large sum of money for the mayor’s charities and she should be commended for that. However, I was absolutely flabbergasted at the price of £150 per ticket for the event.

Given the current economic climate where many local Warwick residents are experiencing financial hardship, I think the mayor of Warwick has totally got it wrong. The £150 ticket price will prevent the significant majority of Warwick residents from being able to attend the event. The talk of ‘champagne receptions’, ‘exquisite five course dinners’ and ‘a spectacular fireworks display’ appear to be a case of Tory largesse at a time when many Warwick residents are struggling to pay their monthly bills.

Interestingly, I note that the mayor of Leamington, Cllr Alan Wilkinson organised a ‘Tea Dance’ with tickets priced at £15 in October and is planning another ‘Boogie with the Mayor’ event in December with tickets priced at £10. Surely, this is much more appropriate in this time of austerity. - Name and address supplied.
