Gypsy camp has angered the villagers

More than 20 travellers’ caravans and towing vehicles have been illegally parked on WDC owned land off Harbury Lane near Whitnash for some weeks. They were due to be moved off last week, but the council authorities and the police have now declined to act, this time due to the fact that-one of the women there had a baby!

Whitnash residents are incensed about the illegal camp which, everything else apart, is presenting sporting activities taking place, they have approached the police, but have been told that the travellers are not going to be moved off.

A police spokesperson had issued a statement saying that they are not doing anything about it at this time, although they do have the power to move travellers out. Many local residents and WDC taxpayers will be saying what the police don’t have, is the resolve or bottle to do it.
