Invest in people, not lighting

I had to read last week’s front page article more than once - I couldn’t believe that a cash-starved council which has cut the children’s centre budget by 40 per cent and the youth service to the bone could begin to think of spending such a huge amount on a non-essential. Our street lights work and everyone is getting used to the switch off. I like it and I’m probably not the only one.

We should be investing the £4m in the future of our young people not in lights.
