More for young people is needed

I am writing with regard to Morrisons opening on the old Ford Foundry land. As much as Morrisons is a good supermarket and I am sure many people will be pleased, I think that we have enough supermarkets in that area.

It would have been a good idea to open an ice skating rink and swimming pool, which would have been right in the middle of the town. It would have provided entertainment for adults and children alike, and I think it is something we need. If you want to take your children ice skating, the closest is Solihull, and the nearest pool is either Newbold Comyn or St Nicholas.

If you haven’t got a car they are quite a way to walk to. There is not a lot for the young to do these days, what with closing the youth clubs etc., surely we could have come up with something more entertaining for the public, which would also provide jobs for the area.

Also, with all the supermarkets in that area, I am sure that there will be job cuts, as Morrisons will probably take all their customers away. We shall have to wait and see. - Julie Taylor, via email.
