New bin policy is madness

May I draw your readers attention to Warwick District Council’s latest moment of madness in the name of cost cutting.

Even though the same council employee, on the same journey, at the same time empties both the general waste and dog waste bins in the park at the rear of The Gardens, Kenilworth, it has been decided to cut costs by removing the dog waste bins leaving just the general waste bin which is situated next to the children’s play area. Needless to say two things are happening:- 1) The bin by the play area is now overflowing; 2) the less responsible dog owners amongst us are not picking up after their dogs.

The majority of people who use that park are young families, many of them accompanied by their family dog so the answer is not just to ban dogs, which would appear to be where the council are going with this.

When asked by a fellow dog owners the council said it was an experiment to see how many complaints they received and if nothing too bad was heard, this policy would be rolled out all over Warwickshire. Do we really want that? - Mrs J. Ward, via email.
