Officers must be saved

I have recently put my name down for Neighbourhood Watch but sometimes you feel helpless when there is not a policeman or woman around when you need one.

Maybe it won’t matter with the cuts but I think it is the wrong occupation to be cutting back on when there is more and more unpleasant things going on out there .

My grandfather was in the police in the 1900’s I believe, in Birmingham and even then it was not a good occupation to be in. But in those days it still needed them to be there to catch the crooks.

The population has grown since those days, so I think it is stupid to cut back. I like what the police do. They do a very good job considering what they have to put up with these days. I would never have followed in my grandfather’s footsteps but do enjoy hearing about things and what they do and have done.Hope I get back up! - Geraldine Barrott, via email.
