Plan has whiff of electioneering

It comes as no surprise to me that Labour, in your columns last week and in response to Lynnette Kelly’s front page expose, that Cllr John Barrott has highlighted the issue of land at Kings Hill and owned by Coventry City Council.

What I cannot understand however is that for many years CCC have not pulled their weight in terms of meeting their housing targets and it has always been left to WDC to bear the brunt of housing development, which has always had to punch above its weight as far as housing developments go.

Far from following the Kelly Plan we need to ask ourselves some questions, one is why all of a sudden has this land become available?

As Cllr Barrott tells us, there would be difficulties in moving forward as it is green belt land. The area is also problematic as the people of Kenilworth, quite rightly, would object to such a development and I assume as a sitting city councillor for many years Lynnette Kelly hasn’t come up with such an idea before?

Is there a whiff of elections in the air. I suggest to Cllr Barrott that instead of following the Kelly Plan, we follow the White Plan and call for a reduction in the housing targets and reduce the numbers proposed in the local plan. The stats for such a reduction is based on sound ONS figures. So come on Cllr Barrott, stop being party political.
