Pre-empting the Local Plan?

We live off Myton Crescent and got a note round from the council that says ‘The Europa Consortium’ had put in a planning application for 800 homes between Europa Way and Myton Road.

The Europa Way Consortium is essentially The Oken Trust and Henry VIII Trust of Warwick. These trusts were set up for the benefit of the people of Warwick, and have close links with the councillors. The application was put in at a time that undermines the consultation for the Local Plan which itself was voted for at a council meeting on June 4.

We therefore have the situation whereby the public consultation process is being undermined in a cynical manner by the charities, pre-empting the Local Plan. I am very disappointed that the charities should take this line, or that the councillors had not used their influence to delay the application until the Local Plan is approved.

In addition, the planning notice has only been circulated to a small number of households, despite the majority of households south of the river being affected by the mass development and the associated issues of infrastructure, congestion and flooding.
