Questions to be asked of new commissioner

I ATTENDED, on December 10, the first public meeting called by the new Police and Crime Commissioner, as advertised in the Courier.

My first thought that was that 9.30am in Shire Hall, Warwick, is not the best time to engage with the public, and I was correct as two people attended, I being one.

At the end of the agenda the commissioner asked the police if there were any questions. I raised my hand, the commissioner looked surprised. I said it was a public meeting, was he taking any questions? His reply was no.

So no questions to the new PCC. Whatever happened to the openness and transparency that this new post was going to create?

I sadly feel it will be the police authority all over again. His deputy Mr Wood tried to rescue the situation by saying that questions could be asked at the next meeting but not from the floor, they would have to be submitted beforehand. Oh dear, what next? - Name and address supplied.
