So much for the Localism Act

I am a resident of South Leamington and endorse the demands of previous correspondents that the (not so local) conservative members of the WDC regulatory committee come clean about their reasons for granting a sex entertainment licence to Amara.

Moreover, I demand that they justify the decision in the context of their Government’s much heralded “big idea” – localism.

If they can ride roughshod over such local strength of feeling as has happened in this case, the Localism Act, supposedly designed to push “power downwards and outwards to the lowest possible level, including individuals, neighbourhoods, professionals and communities” (Department for Communities and Local Government), is not worth the paper it is written on. So much for big ideas! - Name and address supplied.
