Splash out on some yellow paint please

Warwickshire County Council will shortly be fixing its budget for 2012-13 and I would make a plea for councillors to set aside a few pounds for a couple of tins of yellow paint and some brushes.

Such items put to good use would provide some urgently needed double yellow lines in Willes Road, Leamington, to prevent an accident waiting to happen.

Parking on the bridge over the River Leam needs to be banned on both sides, not just one as at present. Motorists (commuters, one suspects, resentful of paying to park nearer their places of employment) now park on the unrestricted section, creating a hazard for drivers advancing on the town centre.

These drivers have to swerve and strangers to the route occasionally come to a halt believing that the parked cars are in a queue for the traffic lights ahead.

Dispensing with this potential hazard is hardly rocket science. Come on councillors, splash out for a little yellow paint! - Tom Swain, the Fairways, Leamington.
