This free-for-all will result in an accident

I read with interest the article regarding the removal of crossings on the High Street, Warwick, and can fully appreciate the concerns expressed.

I drive regularly through the High Street, and have done so for many years. I have two (young teenage) sons, and an elderly friend who is visually impaired - I would not like to see any of these attempt to cross this road. I am an experienced driver but I do not know how to drive through such areas, and I am sure I am not alone. On these dark evenings it is difficult to see pedestrians on the raised sections - a lady in a black coat was in the middle of the road today. I stopped, but many would not have seen her.

I fear that a serious incident is likely to occur if action is not taken in the near future to restore some protection to pedestrians. This free-for-all just cannot work for those without the road sense, or vision, to navigate it. - Mary Stark, Claverdon.
