Town is losing the heart of art

If you walk up Livery Street now, it is dull and dark. The only bright sparks are Arts Trail and Gallery 150, displaying their work. Sadly, Leamington Studio Artists have to leave their current premises by the end of this month.

When they go there will be nothing but food stores in the street – very dull for those who are not hungry. It must be noisy for the people living in the flats nearby, especially on summer evenings. Everyone wants to make a living but the only way artists can do this is to have a showcase where their work can be seen. LSA play a big part looking after students and all the other artists in the town and display work for many individuals and groups. If this is lost, the town is losing the heart of art.

Does anyone, living or working in central Leamington, know of a space that could be used as an art gallery? If so, please contact me on 01926 420221 or at [email protected] or Clive Engwell, at [email protected], to discuss this catastrophe.
