Which idiot came up with ‘Old Town’?

Once again that awful expression ‘Old Town’ rears its ugly head on page seven of last week’s Courier. As far as I’m concerned Leamington is one town, the term is devisive and quite unnecessary and I’d like to know what idiot thought it up some years ago.

If Old Town is south of the river then it must encompass Victoria Terrace, Spencer Street, Avenue Road and all adjoining streets and to the east Priory Terrace, Leam Terrace and connecting streets including part of Willes Road, Radford Road and all streets off it.

By definition, if there’s an Old Town there’s got to be a New Town so where is it? - Ken Wilkins, Kennan Avenue, Leamington.
