A VILLAGE ceramacist will be exhibiting her works at Garden Organic in Ryton.

Visitors to Garden Organic until Thursday October 15 will be able to see a wide variety of work produced by Dot Crowe which she has lovingly been working on in her studio at her home in Barby.

Dot said: “My work has a strong organic feel. My studio is based in the organic garden in a converted old washhouse which blends wonderfully with the environment.

“I can be creative in the garden whilst waiting for clay to dry or rest, the two processes flow together and enhance my creativity.

“The hand-built slab or coiled ceramic forms are made in groups - this creates a rhythmic flow from one piece to another.

Surfaces of forms are incised with organic textures - many from the garden and surrounding countryside. Ceramic pieces can be burnished, polished or glazed depending on the clay - this enhances the surface colouration.”
