The major scheme to improve journeys around the A45/A46 Tollbar End roundabout, A45 Stonebridge Highway and Stivichall Junction, will soon open a new westbound slip road.
On October 3, 4 and 5, there will be overnight closures of the A45 Stonebridge Highway westbound carriageway between Tollbar and Stivichall roundabouts, to allow work to take place to change the road layout.
Traffic will be moved from the existing A45 Stonebridge Highway westbound carriageway onto the new westbound slip road. The slip road is part of the new interchange.
The work on the westbound carriageway will be carried out between 8pm and 6am.
During the overnight closures, traffic will be diverted off the Tollbar roundabout onto the B4110 (London Road).
At the ‘Asda’ roundabout, traffic will take the first exit onto the A4082, then onto the A444, before arriving at the Stivichall roundabout at the junction of the A45/A444 where the diversion ends.
Paul Nagra, Highways Agency project manager said: “The westbound traffic switch-over is another key milestone for the project. This will help to keep the project on schedule, bringing benefits to drivers and the economy.
“We have planned the work to take place at night, when we know traffic flows are lowest, however, we still advise motorists to allow extra time for their journeys on these dates.
“The diversion routes may be unfamiliar to some drivers so we urge them to take extra care, and to drive safely.”
