Rugby’s refurbished Benn Hall has a packed programme of entertainment lined up for the coming months.
Confirmed dates for autumn and winter include the launch of a new monthly comedy night, a nostalgic night of Hits from the Blitz, and a performance by Take That tribute band, Could It Be Magic.
The Benn Hall has joined forces with the acclaimed Gag Reflex comedy stable to launch a new monthly night of stand up.
Gag Reflex represents many of the comedy circuit’s rising stars, including Alex Boardman, Mick Ferry, Chris Stokes, Carey Marx and The Boy With Tape On His Face.
And with many of the performers coming fresh from this year’s Edinburgh Fringe, audiences can look foward to a night of cutting edge comedy.
The Benn Hall’s comedy night, featuring three stand ups and a compere, takes place on Thursday 19 September, Thursday 17 October, and Thursday 14 November. Tickets cost £8. Over 18s only.
The hits of Take That take centre stage at the Benn Hall on Friday 25 October when Could It Be Magic perform.
One of the country’s top Take That tribute acts, Could It Be Magic perform classics from throughout the band’s career, from early hits such as Everything Changes, It Only Takes A Minute and Back For Good, to more recent top ten favourites, including Shine and Greatest Day.
Support on the night comes from the supremely talented RISE, with a disco taking the night’s entertainment through to 1am. Tickets for Could It Be Magic cost £12.
The Benn Hall hosts a Halloween Party Night on Thursday 31 October. The night of fiendish fun includes fancy dress, a disco and the chance to visit Dracula’s Castle. Tickets cost £6. Over 18s only.
On Friday 15 November the Benn Hall takes a trip down memory lane when Hits from the Blitz swings into town.
Performed by the acclaimed Five Star Swing, Hits from the Blitz features war-time favourites from the likes of Vera Lynn and big band classics from the Glenn Miller Band.
Five Star Swing have embarked on a series of successful nationwide tours since forming seven years ago, and the band has a rich pedigree.
Band leader Chris Smith has worked with the BBC Big Band and Herb Miller, brother of the famous Glenn, while Five Star Swing have performed at Vera Lynn’s charity gala nights and the BBC’s Children in Need.
Tickets for Hits from the Blitz cost £25, and include a feel-good ‘ration book’ dinner.
In December, the Benn Hall welcomes drag artist Sabrina Duncan International.
Sabrina has won the prestigious Drag Act of the Year and Cabaret Artist of the Year awards, and her refined, elegant show incorporates song, dance and comedy.
Sabrina performs at the Benn Hall on Saturday 14 December, with support from the Arabesque Dancers. Tickets cost £13. Over 18s only.
On Friday 20 December and Saturday 21 December the Benn Hall hosts Christmas Party Nights for those searching for festive fun.
Live music comes courtesy of RISE, who perform pop classics from the 1970s to the present day. A disco keeps the party going to 2am, while the night also includes a carvery buffet and grand raffle. Tickets cost £21.
The Benn Hall also hosts a New Year’s Eve Party Night on Tuesday 31 December, with a great night’s entertainment on offer for those looking to start 2014 in style.
Award-winning DJs Disco Inferno promise to keep the dancefloor moving into the New Year, playing hits from the 1960s through to the present day. The night also includes a carvery buffet and grand raffle. Tickets cost £23.
