Cancelled Dassett County Country show still manages to make donations to local charities

The coronavirus pandemic may have led to the cancellation of the annual Dassett Country Show but organisers have still managed to make donations to two local area charities.

Each year the Dassett Country Show raises funds for a couple of nominated charities as well as making funds available for local projects and groups, such as the scouts, local church, and gardening groups.

This year the charities would have been VASA and Shipston Home Nursing, principally in memory of two local residents who died towards the end of 2019.

Organisers still wanted to be able to do something for the charities and mark the day of the show, which was due to take place on Saturday August 1.

The show organisers deferred replacing some equipment and dug into their reserves to enable them to make a donation to the charities. In addition, a few of the people who had booked and paid for stalls have donated their pitch fee in lieu of a refund.

Organisers were able to donate £600 to each of the two charities.
