Events such as this have so far raised £28,000 for the community, and the organisers of the quiz are hoping that it will bring the total to £30,000.

The quiz begins at 8pm, entry is £2 per person and there is no limit on team sizes.

A spokesperson for the pub said: "We are raising money to renovate the flower planter at the Welcome To Wolston sign on Warwick road.

"Marie Hardy King, an unsung hero of Wolston, maintains and plants the flowers every year from her own pocket.

"The wooden planter is rotten and she wants to replace it with a brick planter.

"The money raised at the quiz will be donated to enable Marie to buy materials.

"Stacey Hesketh from the village has volunteered to build the planter - with the help of Levi Walters from the village.

"Any money left over will be put towards buying plants.

"The work and planting will be done early spring for the whole village to enjoy."
