Elderly cyclist dies after falling from his bike in village near Rugby

A cyclist from Coventry died of a serious head injury the day after falling from his bicycle in Shilton.

At 12.30pm Tuesday, June 9, police received reports of a cyclist unconscious in the carriageway near Hilltop Garden Centre on Shilton Lane.

Police arrived to find the man, in his seventies, had suffered a serious head injury after it is believed he had fallen from his bike.

He was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further assessment and treatment.

But nothing could be done to save him and he died the following day.

Officers investigating the circumstances of the collision believe no other vehicles were involved.
