Group chairwoman Loren Cowling will lead the fundraising event, which takes place from 7pm on Friday 26 to 7pm on Saturday February 27, by dancing for the full duration and she will be joined by members who will join her in shifts and keep her company via video conferencing calls online.

Loren, a keen dog lover, chose Guide Dogs as the cause the group would support for the 12 months she is in the role.

The charity arranged for BBC reporter and guide dog user Sean Tilley to drop into the Ladies Circle's 'Zoom Bar' to tell them about his personal experience as a guide dog user and how the charity continues to help him today.

Georgina Morgan, from the group said: "Spurred on by his inspiring 'tails', we kicked off our first lockdown fundraising event with the Big Paw Patrol window hunt for kids around the town, raising over £800.

"The Danceathon was due to take place at the end of last year but we quickly had to reschedule and pare down the event due to restrictions.

"Despite the difficulties, we are halfway towards our fundraising goal of £2,000 for this event.

"Like many community fundraising groups, Covid has meant we've not been able to rely on our usual fundraising opportunities including supporting the Kenilworth Round Table and its famous Kenilworth Castle Firework Display, and the annual Santa Float.

"We hope to close Loren's Ladies Circle year in March on a high and would appreciate as much support as possible."

Kenilworth Ladies Circle get together every other Wednesday, currently via Zoom, to offer women aged 18 to 45 in town and its surrounding areas, to connect with each other, have a great time and give something back.

New members are always welcome.
