The Street Pastors volunteer their time to take to the streets of Rugby at night and provide help and a listening ear to those in need.

And in November they held their 10th anniversary celebration service, their annual commissioning service and annual general meeting at Rugby Railway Club.

Those in attendance included Warwickshire Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Seccombe, Rugby’s mayor Cllr Bill Lewis and Deputy Lord Lieutenant Eric Wood OBE alongside Rev Les Isaac OBE – founder of Street Pastors.

Cllr Lewis expressed his admiration for the volunteers and on behalf of Rugby Borough Council thanked them for their actions.

Dawn Thurkettle, the Rugby Street Pastors’ coordinator said: “We are very privileged to welcome our new street pastors Lindi, Julie, Alex and Michael into our dedicated team of volunteers from across many churches in Rugby providing the night time economy with our time to listen, care and to help those in need.

"It is a joy to engage in conversation and assist people in our community."
