Rugbeians still scouring pockets, wallets and the backs of their settees for a missing £1m lottery ticket can now stand down, Camelot told us.

Last week we reported that a ticket bought in Rugby had scored a £1m win on the March 30 Euromillions draw - but it had gone unclaimed.

But yesterday, April 19, Camelot UK Lotteries Limited, operator of The National Lottery, confirmed that someone had come forward to claim the prize.

A spokesperson for the lottery said: "As with all major prizes, the claim will now go through the process of validation.

"Subject to validation the prize will then be paid at an appointment with one of Camelot’s winners’ advisers."

Camelot’s Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at The National Lottery, said, “What amazing news for this lucky ticket holder who has claimed their prize.

"We will now focus on supporting the ticket-holder through the process."

With all National Lottery draws, players have 180 days from the day of the draw to claim their prize if they have the winning ticket.

Anyone concerned about lost or unchecked tickets may like to consider either setting up a National Lottery Direct Debit or playing online at www.national-lottery.co.uk.

Numbers can be entered in advance and winners are notified online if their numbers come up.
