Person cut free from vehicle after motorway crash near Rugby


Fire crews and the air ambulance were called to an accident on the motorway near Rugby this morning.

A person had to be medically cut free from one vehicle.

The accident happened just before 8.30am near Catthorpe and involved a heavy goods vehicle and two private motor vehicles covering all three southbound lanes of the motorway.

Two fire crews from Rugby and a Technical Rescue Unit from Coleshill were attended.

On arrival, fire crews found one person trapped in one of the private vehicles.

They used small gear and clan lucas cutting equipment to release the casualty.

Police, ambulance and air ambulance were also in attendance.

Fire crews were in attendance for approximately one and a half hours. The casualty was left in the care of the air ambulance
