The ashes of 16 pets have been returned after they were stolen by thieves who drove off in a van from Newbold with the remains.

The ashes were left on the driveway of Pet Cremation Services’ (PCS) head office in Guilsborough, near Rugby in the last 24 hours.

They will be returned to vets or to their owners, depending on the owners’ wishes.

The van containing the ashes was stolen from the Newbold area on March 9.

A Facebook page was set up to help find the ashes.

This afternoon, following the news the ashes had been found, Julia Spencer said: “I have just had the most amazing news from my vet the ashes have been placed outside the pet crems driveway and are coming home. Thanks everyone, we couldn’t have done it without you.”

Mandy Hall added: “I just want to say a huge thanks for everything everybody has done in getting all these precious dogs home. I’m picking daisy up tomorrow and to say I’m happy would be an understatement.”

It is thought the ashes belonged to owners across the Midlands area.
