The expansion includesnine new shops targeting furniture and homeware brands selling a range of ‘bulky goods’ including furniture and bathroom and kitchen goods.

The scheme also includes a café/restaurant, approximately 500 car parking spaces and new car and pedestrian links with the existing Elliott’s Field Shopping Park.

Tom Cochrane, speaking for the owners Hammerson, said: “We welcome the decision to approve our planning application to bring the former Tribune Trading Estate site back to life by Rugby Borough Council, which is in line with the recommendation of planning officers.

“Building on our recent £35 million investment at Elliott’s Field Shopping Park, this additional £20 million investment will attract new retailers into Rugby that complement the town’s current offer and will provide valuable new employment opportunities.”
