A Pizza Hut restaurant at a retail park will be closing to make way for two new food outlets.

The branch in Elliott’s Field, off Leicester Road, Rugby, will close next month.

A spokesperson for Pizza Hut said: “The landlord has decided to redevelop the property and as such we are unable to remain in Rugby.

“We still have a strong presence in the area with our Cross Point restaurant in Coventry only 12 minutes away by car and are confident our customers will continue to visit us.

“Where possible staff have been offered jobs at other restaurants.”

The landowner hopes the new outlets will encourage people to spend more time at the shopping park. Tom Cochrane , development manager at Hammerson, which owns Elliott’s Field, said: “As part of the wider redevelopment, Hammerson will be reconfiguring the existing Pizza Hut space and adding an extra cafe unit.

“We look forward to providing further information about these new additions to the site, and others, over the coming months.”

Mr Cochrane said the redevelopment was underway and on schedule.
