Police appeal after woman suffers serious injuries in car crash in Warwick

Police are appealing for witnesses after a road traffic collision involving three vehicles in which a woman suffered serious injuries in Budbrooke yesterday.

The incident happened in Birmingham Road at about 9.45am.

A black BMW, a black Ford Focus and a grey Nissan Micra were the three vehicles involved in the collision.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Crews arrived on scene to find three cars that had been in collision.

“The driver of one of the vehicles, a woman in her 50’s, was found to be trapped in her car. Ambulance crews worked closely with the fire service for over an hour to safely extricate the woman.

“The casualty was treated at the scene for a leg fracture and shoulder and arm injuries. The woman was fully immobilised and given pain relief at the scene before being airlifted to University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire for specialist treatment.

“The driver of a second car, a man, was treated for a minor hand injury and was discharged at the scene.

“No one else was injured in this incident.”

Anyone who witnessed the collision or the circumstances leading up to it, is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident 71 of Wednesday 14 January.
